Dr. Hallowell's Talk Draws over 300 to Black Box |
|
On November 14, Dr. Edward Hallowell addressed a standing room only audience of parents, teens and district staff at the Black Box Theater. The topic of his talk was ADD: After The Diagnosis. Dr. Hallowell shared some of his own personal experiences in dealing with ADD, described various treatment options (both pharmaceutical and drug-free) and gave inspiration to many parents for what he at one point described as "the gift of ADD". By shifting the focus of his talk to the positive aspects of this condition such as creativity and the ability to multitask, he encouraged parents not to regard ADD as a scourge to be eradicated, but as a different way of being which, when properly controlled and nourished, could lead to an immensely productive and happy life. |
