Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) are a group of developmental disabilities defined by significant impairments in social interaction and communication and hallmarked by the presence of unusual behaviors and interests. Recently released data from across the country indicates that 1 in 150 8-year-olds are currently affected. |

Autism Spectrum Disorders |

In 2003, a national survey indicated that an average of 7.7% of children between 4 and 17 years of age had been diagnosed with ADHD at some point in their lives. The Massachusetts average was 8.5%. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a family of chronic neurobiological disorders which interfere with an individual’s ability to regulate activity levels, inhibit behavior and attend to tasks in developmentally appropriate ways. |

ADD/ADHD |

4 to 6 percent of all students in our nation’s public schools are classified as having specific learning disabilities. These are a heterogeneous group of disorders which manifest themselves by significant difficulty in the acquisition of skills in specific areas. Examples of these are - · Dyslexia A language and reading disability · Dyscalculia Difficulty in learning or comprehending mathematics · Dysgraphia Writing disorders which result in illegibility · Dyspraxia Problems with motor coordination. Also known as Sensory Integration Disorder. · Auditory Processing Difficulty processing and remembering language-related tasks |

Specific Learning Disabilities |

Other developmental disabilities, communication disorders and emotional disabilities such as explosive children, anxiety disorders (e.g., obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, etc.,…) and childhood depression. |
